Bagne House

About a hundred meters from Anse Cafard: The Convict House, a tiny house built by a certain Médard Haribot.

This Martinican, born in 1901, was an artist, a sculptor, but also a marginal who sometimes stole food from the rich colonial properties!

In 1925, he was sent to the penal colony in French Guiana for 15 years for some petty thefts and especially for making a "politically" incorrect sculpture!

Back in Martinique in 1940, he built this tiny dollhouse and lived there until his death in 1973.
