...and for good reason!

On May 8, 1902, just before 8 in the morning, Saint-Pierre was literally wiped off the map!

The summit of Mount Pelée, the nearby volcano, had exploded, spewing a fiery flow that, at a speed of 500 km/h, devastated everything in its path!

In an instant, 28,000 people perished, burned or asphyxiated, nothing resisted.

The walls of houses were blown away or melted like chocolate.

Several houses have remained as they were, as a testament to the tragedy.
