Santorini's volcano crater Nea Kameni

The summit of Nea Kameni rises to 124 meters, the main crater, shown here, results from a strong eruption dating back to 1870.

There's no use in trying to go down into it: the temperature of the stones there is 100°, and steam accompanied by whistling sounds regularly escapes, all bathed in a strong smell of sulfur!
